The ZEROW HOUSE left Rice University’s campus this rainy Thursday afternoon for Washington, D.C. A super dedicated crew of students and faculty members were on site beginning at 6 am, and oversaw the house being moved by crane not just once, but three times. We did a test move onto our foundation system (simulating moving the ZEROW onto the National Mall in D.C.), and then moved it onto a flatbed. The house was then moved to the edge of campus, where it was lifted a third time over the gates near Entrance 4 onto a waiting truck..
It was definitely a day to remember, with crowds gathering, the newly cool weather and chilly rain, a successful move, and champagne toast. A huge thanks to team members who were working on site for literally 12 hours! To all of our supporters, family, and friends, we would not have been able to get this far without you! Now, on to DC!

Team members will be leaving Houston for the National Mall beginning September 28, and will rotate in teams during competition time. If you are in Washington during the month of October, please look us up! The Solar Village is an awesome place to be, and all 20 teams will be giving public tours beginning October 8. We are also looking for wonderful alumni and other friends to help us out on the Mall by providing food for hungry construction and tour teams.
