HD Spray Foam Insulation

Whether you’re building a green home or simply looking to improve your current one, spray foam insulation is a smart option. It’s an air-sealing insulation that creates a tight building envelope, which in turn reduces energy bills. It impacts both conduction and convection of heat, which helps keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

The Process of Installing HD Spray Foam Insulation

A premium product, spray foam insulation is available in both open-cell and closed-cell options. Each has different R-values, which means they differ in how much heat they resist. The higher the R-value, the better the insulation.

Spray foam comes in an aerosol can and expands upon application, filling gaps and cracks as it goes. It’s ideal for use in hard-to-reach areas, and it can even add structural support. It’s also resistant to mold and moisture, which can help keep your home healthy and dry.

Many homes have inadequate insulation and are paying high energy bills. This is due to the second law of thermodynamics, which says that heat flows from warmer spaces to colder ones. It’s important to note that conventional fiberglass and cellulose insulation don’t stop this flow, as it moves through the wall cavity. That’s why the thermal boundary created by Meritage spray foam insulates all walls, including those under the roof deck, creating a single, sealed thermal envelope.

Unlike fiberglass, which requires the removal of existing insulation before it’s installed, spray foam doesn’t need to remove anything. This is because it’s applied on the surface of existing walls, attics, and basements. It can also be used in new construction, pole barns and other commercial structures.
